How Old Were Jack And Rose

So, there I was, scrolling through my social media feed, when I stumbled upon a meme that got me thinking. You know the one - Jack and Rose from Titanic, and the age-old debate: how old were they, really?

Now, I'm not one to dive headfirst into internet arguments, but this time, I was curious. I mean, it's not like we're talking about the meaning of life or anything. It's just a movie, right? But still, it got me wondering - what's the deal with Jack and Rose's ages?

Let's set the scene

It's 1997, and Titanic is sweeping the world off its feet. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are the talk of the town, and we're all swooning over their on-screen romance. But amidst all the hype, one question seems to have been overlooked - how old are these lovestruck teens, anyway?

Well, as it turns out, it's not as straightforward as you'd think. See, the movie doesn't give us a clear-cut answer. We know Jack's age because he tells us himself - he's 20. But Rose? That's a different story.

Enter the age debate

So, here's the thing. Rose's age is never explicitly stated in the movie. We know she's a third-class passenger, and she's engaged to a man old enough to be her father. But her actual age? That's a mystery.

Some people argue that she's 17, based on her naivety and inexperience. Others point out that she's more mature than your average 17-year-old, and suggest she's older. Then there are those who think she's around 20, like Jack. But without a definitive answer, the debate rages on.

Now, I'm no Titanic expert, but I did some digging. And it turns out, the film's script does give us a clue. In an early draft, Rose is described as a "17-year-old girl". But here's where it gets interesting - that line was changed in the final script. Why? Who knows. Maybe James Cameron had a change of heart. Maybe he wanted to leave it open to interpretation. Or maybe he just forgot to change it back. Either way, it's left us all in the dark.

So, what's the answer?

Well, folks, I hate to break it to you, but we might never know for sure. It's been over two decades since Titanic hit our screens, and the age debate shows no signs of slowing down. But hey, maybe that's part of the movie's charm. It's a mystery, just like the ship itself.

Now, I'm not saying we should all drop everything and start a petition to find out Rose's age. But next time you watch Titanic, keep an eye out for any clues. Who knows? Maybe you'll spot something we've all missed. Until then, let's just enjoy the movie for what it is - a timeless tale of love, loss, and a really big boat.
