The Real Numbers
Ben Platt was born on September 24, 1993, in Connecticut. Pitch Perfect officially hit theaters in October 2012, which means he was just 18 years old when the movie was released! Can you even imagine playing a confident college freshman at that tender age?
Filming the Freshman
Filming actually began in late 2011, which means he was barely 18 during the entire movie production process. He was practically a high school senior himself when he was pretending to be a college student. It is kind of wild to think about, isn't it?

From Broadway to Barden

Why It Is So Cool

Fun Comparisons
Think about it: he was significantly younger than most actual college freshmen when he played one! It is like a high school kid pretending to be a seasoned professional athlete on the big stage. The whole thing feels like a magical bit of movie casting that just worked out beautifully for everyone.
