Born in the '80s, like your old school hip-hop tracks

Terence Crawford, or "Bud" as his fans call him, was born on September 28, 1987. That makes him a 90s kid, but barely. He's more like the cool cousin who was born just before the millennium. You know, the one who always had the latest video games and could explain the Matrix to you.

Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska

Crawford wasn't always a world champion. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, a place known for its steaks and Warren Buffett. Imagine little Terence, running around, dreaming of becoming a boxer. His mom, Debra, was a single parent, working hard to support him and his siblings. Talk about a strong woman, right?

From the streets to the ring

Crawford's journey isn't all sunshine and roses. He's been open about growing up in tough neighborhoods. But he found his way to the North Omaha Boxing Club, where he started training. It was there that he discovered his passion and talent for boxing.

Amateur glory

Crawford's amateur career was nothing short of impressive. He won three national Golden Gloves titles, which is like winning the Super Bowl of amateur boxing. He was also a two-time U.S. National Champion. This guy was on fire, and he was just getting started.
