How Old Is Ross In Poldark

So, you're wondering, "Just how old is Ross Poldark, anyway?" Well, grab a cuppa and let's dive into this Cornish conundrum!

Ross: Ageless or Just Well-Preserved?

First things first, Ross Poldark isn't a real person, but a character from Winston Graham's novels and the TV series based on them. The books were published between 1945 and 2002, so Ross has been around for a while, hasn't he?

Now, the TV series, that's a different story. The first one aired in 1975, with Robin Ellis as Ross, and the latest, starring Aidan Turner, wrapped up in 2019. That's a whole lot of Poldark for you!

Ross's Birthdate: A Mystery Unsolved

Here's where it gets tricky. Winston Graham never gave Ross a specific birthdate. No, he didn't forget, he just didn't think it was that important. I mean, can you imagine Ross filling out a job application, sweating over the 'Date of Birth' field?

So, we're left to guess. And guess we did, because in the 1975 series, Ross was played by a 36-year-old Robin Ellis. But in the 2015 series, Aidan Turner was a mere 31. What's a Poldark fan to do?

Ross Through the Ages

Let's break it down. The Poldark series spans about 15 years, from around 1783 to 1798. If we assume Ross was in his mid-20s when the series starts (because, you know, he's a captain and all), that would make him around 40 by the end.

But here's the thing: Ross doesn't age like the rest of us. He's like a fine Cornish wine, improving with age. In the books, Ross is described as having a "handsome face" and "dark eyes." Sounds like he's aged like a fine wine, not a fine cheese, right?

Ross's Ageless Appeal

Maybe it's Ross's brooding nature, his chiseled jaw, or his ability to pull off breeches like no one else. Whatever it is, Ross Poldark has captivated audiences for decades. And as long as we keep asking, "How old is Ross, anyway?" he'll stay forever young in our hearts.

So, there you have it. Ross Poldark's age is a mystery, but his appeal isn't. Now, who's ready for a rewatch?
