How Old Is Cage The Elephant

Ever found yourself grooving to "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" or "Cigarette Daydreams" and wondered, "Just how old is Cage The Elephant, anyway?" Well, grab a coffee, get comfy, and let's dive into this musical time capsule together.

Unraveling the Years

Cage The Elephant, the Kentucky-born rockers who've been giving us those sweet, gritty tunes since 2006, are like that cool older cousin who's always got the best stories. They're not ancient, but they're not exactly fresh out of the womb of rock 'n' roll either. So, let's do some math.

Lead vocalist Matthew Shultz, the band's charismatic frontman, was born on February 14, 1982. That makes him a whole 40 years old as of 2022. Yes, you read that right. The guy who's been making us feel like we're 17 again is actually old enough to rent a car without a young driver surcharge.

The rest of the band isn't far behind. Guitarist Brad Shultz, Matthew's brother, is 39, while drummer Jared Champion and guitarist Nick Bockrath are both 38. Only keyboardist Matthew Monamy is the baby of the group at a mere 35 years old.

From Garage to Grammy

Now that we've got the ages down, let's talk about their journey. Cage The Elephant started in 2006 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They were just a bunch of friends jamming in a garage, dreaming of making it big. Fast forward to 2015, and they're winning a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album with their third studio album, Melophobia.

Cage The Elephant

Think about it - that's like going from playing air guitar in your bedroom to headlining Coachella. Not bad for a group of guys who were practically still in their teens when they started.

Age is Just a Number

So, Cage The Elephant is in their mid-to-late 30s. Big deal. They're still making music that makes us feel alive, still pushing boundaries, and still proving that age is just a number. They've gone from garage band to Grammy winners, and they're not showing any signs of slowing down.
