How Old Billy Idol

So, you're curious about Old Billy Idol, huh? Let's dive in, mate! You might think you know him, but I've got some quirky facts that'll make you go, "Whoa, I didn't know that!"

From Punk Rock to Pop Icon

Billy Idol, born William Michael Albert Broad, wasn't always the rebellious rocker we know today. He grew up in a middle-class family in London, where his dad was a postal worker. Can you believe it? The guy who sang "Rebel Yell" had a dad who sorted your grandma's letters!

But young Billy had other plans. He picked up a guitar, joined a punk band called Chelsea, and the rest is history. He left Chelsea, formed Generation X with his mate Tony James, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Bite This!

Now, let's talk about that iconic snarl and the peroxide blonde hair. Billy's look was inspired by James Dean, but he took it to a whole new level. He once said, "I wanted to look like a devil, so I dyed my hair blonde and wore a leather jacket."

And that snarl? It's not just for show. Billy's dentist once told him he could lose his teeth if he didn't stop baring them in his performances. But hey, it's part of his charm, right?

Rebel with a Cause

Billy's music is all about rebellion, but he's got a soft side too. He's a big animal lover and has even written songs about his pets. His song "Sweet Sixteen" was inspired by his cat, Sid Vicious, who was named after the Sex Pistols bassist.

And get this, Billy's a bit of a history buff. He's got a thing for ancient civilizations, especially the Egyptians. He even has a tattoo of an Egyptian cat goddess on his arm. Who would've thought, huh?

Monkey Business

Now, let's talk about that time Billy had a pet monkey. Yep, you read that right. He had a capuchin monkey named Eric. Eric would sit on Billy's shoulder while he performed, wearing a little leather jacket. How cool is that?

But it wasn't all fun and games. Billy had to give Eric up because he was too wild. He once bit a photographer, and that was the end of Eric's rock 'n' roll career.

From Rock Bottom to Comeback Kid

Billy's life hasn't always been a party. He's struggled with addiction and even had a near-fatal motorcycle accident. But he's always bounced back, stronger than ever.

So, what's Billy up to these days? Well, he's still making music and touring. He's also written a memoir called "Dancing with Myself," which is a wild ride through his life and career.

And here's a fun fact to wrap things up: Billy's got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It's right next to his idol, James Dean. Talk about full circle, huh?

So, there you have it, folks. Old Billy Idol is more than just a rebellious rocker. He's a history buff, an animal lover, and a comeback king. And he's not done yet. So, crank up the tunes and let's all dance with ourselves, just like Billy would want us to.
