Cast Of Old Dogs Movie

Hey There! Let's Dish the Dirt on the 'Old Dogs' Movie Cast

Alright, gather 'round, folks! We're about to spill the beans on the superstar cast of 'Old Dogs'. You know, that hilarious flick where John Travolta and Robin Williams play two bachelors who suddenly find themselves dads to six kids? Yeah, that one!

John Travolta: The Disco Dad

First up, we've got John Travolta, the king of cool himself. Did you know he was actually 55 when he played Dan, one of the lead dads? Talk about aging backwards, right? He's like the Benjamin Button of Hollywood!

And get this, Travolta's character, Dan, was originally written for a 30-something. But John, with his smooth moves and disco charm, convinced the directors that a slightly older, more experienced dad would bring a whole new twist to the story. Who knew disco could be so dad-like?

Robin Williams: The Wildcard Dad

Now, let's talk about Robin Williams, the comedic genius who played Charlie, the other half of our dynamic dad duo. This guy was a total wildcard, improvising most of his lines and keeping the crew in stitches. It's no wonder they decided to keep his ad-libs in the final cut!

Here's a fun fact for you: Robin Williams was so loved on set that the crew named a toilet after him. Yep, you heard it right. The 'Robin Williams' toilet became a bit of a legend among the cast and crew. Classy, huh?

Kelly Preston: The Love Interest

Next up, we've got Kelly Preston, who played Vicki, the woman who turns Dan's world upside down. Did you know she's actually John Travolta's real-life wife? Talk about keeping it in the family!

Kelly's character was originally written as a much younger woman, but Preston convinced the directors to make her more age-appropriate. She wanted to show that love and attraction aren't just about youth. How's that for a real-life love story?

The Kids: A Mini United Nations

Now, let's not forget the little tykes who stole the show. The six kids in 'Old Dogs' were played by a mix of experienced and first-time actors. They came from all over the place - Canada, Australia, even South Africa! It was like a mini United Nations on set.

One of the kids, Connor Rayburn, who played Zach, was so young that he couldn't read. So, the crew would put his lines on cue cards and hold them up off-camera. Talk about making it work!

Behind the Scenes: The Dog Days of Filming

You can't talk about 'Old Dogs' without mentioning the real stars of the show - the dogs! The film featured a whole pack of pups, including a couple of Huskies who played the role of 'Old Dog'.

Filming with dogs can be a challenge, but the crew had a secret weapon - a special 'dog whisperer' who could calm even the most energetic pups. It's like they had their own tiny, furry method actors!

Why 'Old Dogs' is Still a Hoot

So, why should you watch 'Old Dogs'? Well, aside from the fact that it's a hilarious comedy with a heartwarming message, it's also a great reminder that you're never too old to have fun. And who doesn't love seeing John Travolta and Robin Williams at their comedic best?

Plus, it's always fun to spot the quirky details - like the fact that John Travolta's character drives a car with the license plate 'DAN 666'. Talk about a dad joke, right?
