So, I was down the pub the other night, and old Geoff, you know, the one who's been a Manchester United fan since before I was born, was holding court. He's got this theory, see, that Wayne Rooney should've hung up his boots years ago. Now, I'm not one to argue with Geoff, he's seen more games than I've had hot dinners, but I thought, "Hang on a minute, let's explore this."
Rooney's Retirement: The Great Debate
You see, Wayne's been around forever, hasn't he? Started his career when he was just a kid, and now, well, he's not getting any younger. So, the question on everyone's lips is: when's he gonna call it a day?
Geoff reckons he should've retired ages ago. Says he's past it, that he's not the player he used to be. But then again, Geoff's been saying that for the past five years. I mean, remember when he said that about Ronaldo? We all know how that turned out.

Age is Just a Number, Right?
I mean, sure, Wayne's not the 18-year-old wonderkid who scored that goal against Arsenal anymore. But he's still got a lot to offer, hasn't he? Experience, leadership, that sort of thing. And let's not forget, he's still scoring goals. Not as many as he used to, maybe, but who is?
Wayne Rooney keen to come out of retirement and return to the pitch
Take a look at Zlatan, for instance. He's older than Wayne, and he's still banging them in. Hell, he's even playing in the MLS now, and he's still a match winner. So, why can't Wayne do the same?
When Will Rooney Hang Up His Boots?
Now, I'm not saying Wayne should play until he's 50. That's just silly. But I do think he's got a few more years in him yet. It's all about finding the right team, the right league. Maybe he'll follow Zlatan's lead and head off to the States. Or maybe he'll stay in England and finish his career with a team he loves.
Wayne Rooney retires from football to take up first managerial job
Who knows? Maybe Geoff's right, and Wayne should retire tomorrow. But then again, maybe he'll prove us all wrong and score a few more goals, win a few more trophies. That's the thing about football, isn't it? You never know what's going to happen next.
So, what do you think? When should Wayne Rooney retire? Let me know in the comments. And if you see Geoff, tell him I said hi. But don't tell him I agreed with him. I've got a reputation to uphold, you know.
