How Old Was William Shatner

So, you're wondering, "How old was William Shatner when he was Captain Kirk?" Let's dive into that, shall we?

Born in the Roaring Twenties

William Shatner, our favorite starship captain, wasn't born in a galaxy far, far away, but in the heart of Canada, in 1931. That's right, he's a child of the Roaring Twenties!

Imagine this: while Shatner was learning to walk, the world was dancing the Charleston, and Al Capone was making headlines. Talk about a timeline that's out of this world!

Kirk's Early Days

Now, let's fast forward to when Shatner first stepped into the role of Captain Kirk in the original "Star Trek" series, which aired from 1966 to 1969.

By this time, Shatner was a cool 35 years old. To put that into perspective, think of someone you know who's 35. Now imagine them commanding a starship, boldly going where no one has gone before. Pretty neat, huh?

But here's where it gets even more interesting. Shatner continued to play Kirk in various movies and even reprised the role in the recent "Star Trek" films, with the latest one, "Star Trek Beyond," coming out in 2016 when he was a sprightly 85!

That's right, folks. Shatner was in his mid-80s when he was still commanding the Enterprise. If that's not a testament to his enduring appeal and energy, I don't know what is.

Shatner's Aging Process: Slower Than Light

Now, you might be thinking, "Wow, that's a big age gap between Shatner and the other actors when they were filming the original series." And you'd be right!

But remember, Shatner was playing a character who was supposed to be in his 30s, even though he was in his mid-30s himself. And let's be real, Shatner's aging process has always been slower than light speed.

Shatner Today

As of 2022, Shatner is 91 years old. That's right, he's older than sliced bread and almost as old as the Eiffel Tower!

And you know what? He's still going strong, still acting, still making us laugh, and still proving that age is just a number. So, the next time you watch an episode of "Star Trek," remember that Captain Kirk was once played by a man who was old enough to be your grandpa. Pretty cool, huh?
