How Old Was Michael Jackson When He Made Billie Jean

Ever wondered what the King of Pop was up to in his younger years? Let's dive into the groovy world of Michael Jackson and find out just how old he was when he unleashed the iconic "Billie Jean" upon the world.

Before the Moonwalk

Picture this: it's 1982, and Michael Jackson is just a mere 24 years old. Can you believe it? The guy who'd later become synonymous with the word "legendary" was still in his mid-twenties when he started shaking up the music scene.

Now, you might be thinking, "24? That's not that young!" And you're right, but remember, we're talking about Michael Jackson here. By the time he was 24, he'd already been performing for over a decade, first with his brothers in the Jackson 5, and then as a solo artist.

Enter "Billie Jean"

So, what made "Billie Jean" so special? Well, for starters, it was the lead single from Jackson's sixth solo album, "Thriller." And let's not forget that little dance move called the Moonwalk that he debuted in the song's music video. Talk about making an entrance!

But back to our question: how old was Michael when he recorded "Billie Jean"? The song was released on January 2, 1983, which means he was still 24 years old when it hit the airwaves. But get this: he recorded the vocals for "Billie Jean" in 1982, when he was just 23! Can you imagine being that talented at such a young age?

Fun Facts

Here's a fun fact for you: "Billie Jean" was initially meant to be a B-side to another track, "She's Out of My Life." Jackson's producer, Quincy Jones, had to twist his arm to make "Billie Jean" the lead single. Can you imagine a world where "Billie Jean" never became the global phenomenon it was?

And here's another one: the iconic bassline in "Billie Jean" was created by accident. Bassist Louis Johnson was trying to tune his instrument, and when he hit the wrong note, Jackson loved it so much, they kept it in the song. Talk about turning a mistake into magic!
