He's already making waves, though. In fact, he's just won his first Fifa Ballon d'Or – that's the big one, folks! Can you believe it? He was only 22, and he's already got the world at his feet.

But How Old Was He?

Alright, alright, let's get to the point. In 2008, Messi was a fresh-faced 21-year-old. Yes, you heard it right. He was just a baby, really, in football terms.

Born on June 24, 1987, he was still in his early twenties, but already he was a force to be reckoned with. He'd been playing for Barcelona since he was 17, and by 2008, he was their shining star.

Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room. How old was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008? He was 23, just a year older than Messi.

They were already going head to head, these two. Ronaldo was at Manchester United, and he was pretty incredible too. He won the Champions League that year, and he was named World Soccer Player of the Year.

But Messi? He was just getting started. He was like a kid in a candy store, and he was about to become a force of nature.
