How Old Was Dylan O Brien In Maze Runner 1

Dylan O'Brien: A Maze Runner's Journey Through Time

Ever found yourself wondering, "How old was Dylan O'Brien in 'The Maze Runner'?" Well, grab a snack, get comfy, and let's dive into this time-traveling tale of a young actor's journey through one of his most iconic roles.

Back to the Beginning

Picture this: it's 2014, and the world is buzzing with anticipation for the big-screen adaptation of James Dashner's bestselling novel, 'The Maze Runner'. At the helm of this post-apocalyptic adventure is a fresh face, Dylan O'Brien, who's about to turn 23 years old.

Now, you might be thinking, "Wait, wasn't he, like, 12 in the movie?" Nope, that's not a time-travel glitch. Dylan was playing a character, Thomas, who's described as being around 16 in the book. So, he was actually playing a character about seven years younger than himself. Talk about a challenge!

Growing Up on Screen

Fun fact: 'The Maze Runner' was Dylan's first major film role. Before this, he was known for his comedic chops on the MTV series 'Teen Wolf'. Talk about a leap from wisecracking sidekick to dystopian hero!

As the series progressed with 'The Scorch Trials' (2015) and 'The Death Cure' (2018), Dylan aged with his character. By the time 'The Death Cure' wrapped, Dylan was a ripe 26, while his on-screen self was around 18. Quite the growth spurt, huh?

More Than Just a Maze

Dylan's journey as Thomas wasn't just about the action and suspense. It was also a coming-of-age story, both for his character and for him as an actor. He told Entertainment Weekly in 2018, "I grew up on these movies. I grew up with these people."

And we grew up watching him. From a 23-year-old playing a teenager to a 26-year-old wrapping up an epic trilogy, Dylan's time in the Maze was a journey we all took with him.

Beyond the Maze

So, what's Dylan up to now? Well, he's continued to tackle diverse roles, from the action-packed 'American Assassin' (2017) to the emotional drama 'Long Shot' (2019) with Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen. He's also lent his voice to the animated series 'Tuca & Bertie' and the video game 'Life is Strange 2'.

And the best part? He's still just getting started. At 30 (as of 2021), Dylan's career is far from over. He's got a few projects in the pipeline, including the upcoming 'The Education of Fredrick Fitzell' and 'The Binge'.

Reflecting on Time

As we look back on Dylan's journey through the Maze, we're reminded that time flies when you're having fun (and even when you're not). Whether it's watching our favorite actors grow up on screen or reflecting on our own lives, time has a way of sneaking up on us.

So, here's to making the most of every moment, whether we're playing a character seven years younger or just trying to figure out what to make for dinner. After all, as Dylan once said, "Life is about taking risks and finding your own path."
