How Old Is Wizkid

Alright, gather 'round, let's talk about Wizkid's age. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Why does it matter? He's just a number, right?" Well, yes and no. In the grand scheme of things, it's just a number, but in the world of music and pop culture, age can tell a story or two. So, grab a cup of tea, let's dive in.

Let's Set the Scene

Imagine Wizkid as a cake. No, not because he's sweet (although, let's be real, his music is pretty darn sweet), but because cakes have layers, and so does his career. Now, when you blow out the candles on a cake, you're not just celebrating the year it's been, but also the years it took to get there. Same goes for Wizkid.

Born on the 16th of July, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria, Wizkid, or Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun to his mum, has been around the block a few times. But before we get into the numbers, let's talk about how he got here.

From the Streets of Lagos to the World Stage

Wizkid started his music journey at the age of 11, forming a group called the Glorious Five. Now, picture this: a bunch of kids, barely out of primary school, trying to make it big. It's like a real-life version of those kid bands you see on TV, but with way more hustle and a lot less sugarcoating.

Fast forward to 2009, Wizkid dropped his first single, "Tease Me/Bad Guys," and the rest, as they say, is history. He's since become a global sensation, with hits like "Ojuelegba," "Come Closer," and "Essence" blowing up speakers worldwide. But how old was he when all this was happening?

Age is Just a Number, Right?

Well, yes and no. When Wizkid dropped "Tease Me/Bad Guys," he was just 19, a baby in the music industry. But by the time "Ojuelegba" was released, he was 23, already a veteran in the Nigerian music scene. And when "Essence" came out, he was a ripe old 30 (well, not that old, but you get the point).

Now, here's where it gets interesting. Wizkid's age isn't just about him; it's about the music industry too. In the early days, he was one of the youngest artists making waves, but now, he's one of the OGs, paving the way for the next generation. It's like watching a little brother grow up to become the big brother who gives advice and sets a good example.
