Let's set the stage, shall we?

Born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, Walter Elias Disney, or Walt as we all know him, was the youngest of five children. So, if we're doing the math, that makes Walt 120 years young this year. Yes, you read that right – Walt Disney is older than the 20th century itself!

But wait, before you start feeling ancient, remember that Walt's birthday is coming up in December. So, you're practically his age twin! Isn't that something? Now, let's get back to our time-traveling tale.

From Kansas City to the world

Walt's journey began in Kansas City, where he worked as a newspaper delivery boy and later as an artist for the Kansas City Star. It was here that he developed his distinctive style, which would eventually bring us the iconic characters we know and love today.

But Walt's story doesn't end in Kansas City. Oh no, this is where the magic really begins. In 1923, Walt and his brother Roy moved to Hollywood, California, with just $40 between them. Talk about starting from scratch, huh?

In 1928, Walt created the character that would change his life and the world of entertainment forever – Mickey Mouse. The rest, as they say, is history. Mickey made his debut in the short film "Steamboat Willie," and the world fell in love with the little guy who would go on to become a symbol of joy and creativity.

But Walt didn't stop at animation. Oh no, he had bigger dreams. In 1955, he opened Disneyland, a place where dreams come true and magic is made. And let's not forget about the movies, the TV shows, the theme parks, and the endless stream of inspiration that Walt left behind.
