How Old Is Shern Min Chow

Ever wondered about the age of that guy who's been setting world records in chess? Yeah, you know, that Shern Min Chow. The one who's been making headlines for his mind-blowing chess skills. Let's dive in, shall we?

So, how old is this chess whiz, anyway?

Alright, let's put on our detective hats. As of 2023, Shern Min Chow is 21 years old. That's right, just 21! Born in 2002, he's been making waves in the chess world for over a decade now. Imagine being a teenager and already being a grandmaster. Talk about growing up fast!

But wait, how did he start so young?

Well, it turns out, Shern started playing chess when he was just 4 years old. That's like, what, pre-school age? His dad, a chess enthusiast himself, introduced him to the game. And boom! A future grandmaster was born. It's like finding out your neighbor's kid is a prodigy. Mind. Blown.

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, but how does a 4-year-old even play chess?" Well, picture this: little Shern, all curious and eager, learning the rules, moving the pieces, and slowly but surely, getting the hang of it. It's like learning your ABCs, but with knights and rooks instead of apples and bananas.

From local tournaments to world records

Fast forward a few years, and young Shern is already competing in local chess tournaments. Then, at the age of 10, he becomes Singapore's youngest chess grandmaster. That's like being the youngest employee at Google. Impressive, right?

But Shern didn't stop there. Oh no, he kept on truckin'. In 2013, at the age of 11, he set a world record for the youngest chess grandmaster ever. That's like being the youngest person to climb Mount Everest. Crazy, right?
