How Old Is Moana In Moana 1

So, How Old Is Moana, Anyway?

Alright, gather 'round, folks. Let's dive into the mystical, tropical waters of the Pacific and tackle a question that's been swirling around like a hurricane in a coconut shell: just how old is our favorite wayfinding princess, Moana?

Now, before we set sail, let's drop anchor on a little disclaimer. We're talking about the animated Moana here, not the real-life Polynesian princesses who inspired her. Sorry to disappoint any time-traveling archaeologists out there.

Let's Start at the Beginning

In the opening scenes of the movie, we see baby Moana being cradled by her grandma Tala. So, we can safely say that Moana is not a teenager when the film begins. That's right, folks. Our heroine is a wee babe when we first meet her.

But hold onto your heis, because things are about to get a little... flexible. You see, the film jumps forward in time, and we meet Moana again as a young woman. But here's the kicker: we don't know exactly how much time has passed. It's like Disney dropped us in the middle of the ocean and said, "You figure it out!"

So, What's the Deal with Moana's Age?

Well, here's where things get a bit tricky. The film's directors, Ron Clements and John Musker, have been about as helpful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to pinning down Moana's age. They've said things like, "She's a teenager," and "She's around 16 or 17," but they've also been known to joke about her being "17 and a half, going on 18."

So, is Moana 16? 17? 17 and a half? Who knows! It's like trying to catch a wave with a surfboard made of jelly. But hey, at least we know she's not a baby anymore, right?

Let's Talk About Moana's Voice

Now, you might be thinking, "Well, if Moana's voice actress, Auli'i Cravalho, was 14 when she was cast, then Moana must be around the same age, right?"

Not so fast, my friend. Remember, Auli'i was cast at 14, but the film was in production for a few years before it hit the big screen. So, by the time Moana was sailing into theaters, Auli'i was 16. And yet, Moana's age remained as mysterious as the Heart of Te Fiti.

So, Where Does That Leave Us?

Well, folks, we're about as clueless as Heihei when it comes to Moana's age. But here's the thing: does it really matter? Moana is a heroine who saves her island, restores the Heart of Te Fiti, and proves that she has the wayfinding skills of her ancestors. She's wise beyond her years, and that's what truly counts.

So, let's raise a coconut shell full of water (or something stronger, if that's your jam) to Moana, the heroine who doesn't need a specific age to be amazing. And if you ever find out how old she really is, be sure to let me know. I've got a bet going with a certain rooster.

Until then, keep sailing, keep exploring, and remember: you're never too young (or too old) to be a hero.
