How Old Is Michael Owen

So, I was at the pub the other night, and I got talking to this bloke who swore blind that Michael Owen was still playing football. I mean, I thought he was having a laugh, but he was dead serious. That got me thinking, how old is Michael Owen anyway? I mean, I know he's not exactly a spring chicken, but is he still kicking a ball around out there?

Let's rewind a bit

For those of you who've been living under a rock (or maybe you're just not into football), Michael Owen is a former English footballer. He was born on the 14th of December, 1979, in Chester, England. That makes him 42 years old as of 2022. Yes, you read that right, he's in his 40s!

Now, I know what you're thinking, "42? That can't be right. He's still got that youthful glow!" Well, my friends, that's the magic of good genes and a healthy lifestyle. But I digress, let's get back to the main question.

Still playing? Let's find out

Michael Owen retired from professional football in 2013. Yes, you heard it right, he's been retired for almost a decade now. He hung up his boots at the age of 33, which is quite young compared to some other footballers. But then again, football is a tough game, and it can take a toll on your body.

After retirement, Owen hasn't been idle. He's been working as a pundit for BT Sport and BBC, sharing his insights and expertise on the game. He's also been involved in various business ventures, including a racing stable and a sports clothing line. So, while he might not be playing football anymore, he's still very much involved in the sport.

But what about that bloke at the pub?

So, I had to burst his bubble and tell him that Michael Owen hasn't been playing football for almost a decade now. He was shocked, to say the least. But then again, time flies, and it's easy to lose track of these things, especially when you're not a football fan.

Anyway, I hope this little story has cleared up any confusion about Michael Owen's age and his retirement. And if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, you now have the ammo to set the record straight. Just remember, the next time you're at the pub, don't believe everything you hear!
