How Old Is Mason In Thirteen

So, I was binge-watching Thirteen Reasons Why the other day, you know, just because. And there I was, minding my own business, when it hit me - how old is Mason, really? I mean, I know he's a high school kid, but come on, we've all been there, right? The show's been around for a few years now, and I've been wondering, is he aging in real life like we are? Let's dive in, shall we?

Mason's Age in the Show

Alright, so Thirteen Reasons Why is set in Liberty High, and Mason, played by the ever-so-talented Devin Druid, is a student there. The show's first season premiered in 2017, and Mason was introduced as a freshman. Now, I'm no math genius, but if we assume he started high school at the typical age of 14 or 15, that would make him around 16 or 17 in the first season.

Now, here's where it gets tricky. The show spans over four seasons, with each season covering a few months in the characters' lives. So, by the time we reach the fourth season, Mason would be, let's say, 18 or 19. But remember, this is all based on assumptions because the show doesn't explicitly tell us Mason's age. It's like they're leaving it up to us to do the math, which, let's face it, is a bit of a challenge when you're just trying to enjoy the show.

Devin Druid's Real-Life Age

Now, let's talk about the actor behind Mason, Devin Druid. He was born on January 17, 1998, which makes him a Capricorn, in case you're into that sort of thing. So, as of 2021, he's 23 years old. That's right, he was just a teenager when he started playing Mason, and now, he's all grown up. I mean, have you seen him in the later seasons? He's like a totally different person!

Here's What The Cast Of "Thirteen" Has Been Up To, 14 Years Later

But here's the thing, folks. Devin was 19 when the first season aired, and Mason was supposed to be 14 or 15. So, Devin was playing a character who was, what, 4 or 5 years younger than him? That's some serious acting right there. I mean, I can't even pull off a convincing 25 when I'm 23, you know?

So, How Old Is Mason?

Well, that's the million-dollar question, isn't it? If we go by the show's timeline, Mason would be around 19 or 20 by now. But remember, that's just an assumption. The show could be playing tricks on us, making us do all this math for nothing. It's like that one math problem in high school that you spent hours on, only to find out you were supposed to use a completely different method.

But hey, that's the fun of it, right? Speculating, theorizing, and just plain old wondering. It's what makes watching shows like Thirteen Reasons Why so darn enjoyable. So, the next time you're binge-watching, take a moment to think about Mason's age. It's a fun little game, I promise.

And who knows? Maybe one day, we'll get a definitive answer. Until then, let's just enjoy the show and appreciate Devin Druid's amazing acting skills. After all, he's been growing up right alongside Mason, and that's something special.
