How Old Is Judo From Bluey

So, you're curious about Judo from Bluey, huh? Let's grab a coffee and chat about it. You know, that adorable little blue heeler from the hit kids' show.

First things first, Judo in the show isn't your typical martial art. It's a fun, animated version created just for the series. But if we're talking about the real-world inspiration, Judo as we know it is actually over a hundred years old!

Now, you might be thinking, "Whoa, how old is that in dog years?" Well, let's not go there. We'll stick to human years for now.

Meet Jigoro Kano

So, who's the brain behind this martial art? His name's Jigoro Kano, and he's a total legend. Born in Japan in 1860, he was a bit of a Renaissance man - you know, the type who's good at everything. He was a teacher, a politician, and even an Olympic committee member. But his claim to fame? Inventing Judo.

Kano was a big fan of jujitsu, an older martial art. But he thought it could be improved. So, in 1882, he created a new, safer version and called it Judo, which means "gentle way" in Japanese. How's that for a humble brag?

From Japan to the World

Judo might have started in Japan, but it didn't stay there for long. Kano was all about spreading the love. He opened the first Judo school outside Japan in 1900, right here in Paris. And guess what? The Olympics picked it up in 1964. Not bad for a hundred-year-old sport, huh?

Now, you might be wondering, "What's all this got to do with Bluey?" Well, the show's creators took the real-world Judo and gave it a fun, kid-friendly twist. In the show, Judo's all about learning, playing, and making friends. Sound familiar? That's because it's a big part of Bluey's message too.

And the best part? Judo in Bluey isn't about fighting or winning at any cost. It's about being kind, fair, and having fun. Just like in real-life Judo, it's all about the "gentle way".

So, there you have it. Judo's been around for over a century, and it's still going strong. And thanks to Bluey, a whole new generation's learning about it too. Pretty neat, huh?

Now, who's ready for another coffee? My treat!
