How Old Is Jimmy Somerville

So, you're wondering, "How old is Jimmy Somerville?" Well, buckle up, because we're about to dive into a world of boyish good looks, musical genius, and a whole lotta birthday cake. Jimmy, you see, is like that fine wine that just keeps getting better with age. But don't worry, we won't bore you with dry facts. No, no, we're here to have a giggle and learn a thing or two.

Let's Start at the Very Beginning

Jimmy was born on the 22nd of January, 1961, in Glasgow, Scotland. That's right, he's a proud Scot, just like that other famous export, Irn-Bru. Now, you might think, "Wow, that makes him... old!" But hold your horses, because Jimmy's got more energy than a toddler on espresso, and he's not afraid to show it.

Growing up, Jimmy was a bit of a handful. He was expelled from school for being, well, too fabulous. Can you imagine? They actually kicked him out for being too awesome. Talk about a wasted opportunity for those poor, deprived students.

Bronski Beat: The Original Boy Band

Fast forward through the years, and Jimmy finds himself in London, forming the iconic band, Bronski Beat. They were like the original boy band, but with more leather jackets and less synchronised dancing. Their hit, "Smalltown Boy," was a massive success, and Jimmy's powerful vocals had everyone reaching for the tissues. He was singing about heartbreak before it was cool, folks.

Now, you might think that Jimmy would rest on his laurels after that, but no. He's not one to sit still. He went on to form another band, The Communards, with his pal, Richard Coles. They had a massive hit with "Don't Leave Me This Way," and Jimmy's falsetto was giving Mariah Carey a run for her money. And he was doing it all while wearing a dog collar. Now that's how you make an entrance.

Age is Just a Number, Right?

So, back to the big question: how old is Jimmy Somerville? Well, as of 2021, he's 60. Yes, you read that right. Sixty. But don't let that fool you. Jimmy's still got more energy than a room full of toddlers on a sugar high. He's still performing, still singing, and still looking fabulous while doing it.

In fact, Jimmy's so full of life, he's probably got a few extra years tucked away somewhere. I mean, have you seen his skin? It's like the fountain of youth is his personal moisturiser. He's probably got a secret stash of youth serum hidden away in his basement, along with all those leather jackets he's collected over the years.

So, What's the Secret?

When asked about his youthful appearance, Jimmy just laughs and says, "I've just got good genes." But we think it's more than that. It's his passion for music, his love of life, and his ability to laugh at himself. It's that twinkle in his eye when he's performing, that joy he finds in making people happy. That, my friends, is the real secret to eternal youth.

And there you have it. Jimmy Somerville is 60, but he's still got more energy than a room full of hyperactive puppies. So, the next time you're feeling a bit tired, a bit old, just remember Jimmy. Put on some Bronski Beat, dance like no one's watching, and before you know it, you'll be feeling like a smalltown boy with the world at your feet.
