How Old Is Glenn Hoddle

So, there I was, the other day, kicking a ball around with my mates, trying to channel my inner Glenn Hoddle. You know, the guy who could bend it like Beckham before Beckham was even a twinkle in his dad's eye. I mean, who isn't inspired by the man who once scored a goal from the halfway line? But then it hit me, how old is Glenn Hoddle anyway?

I mean, I know he's been around since the dinosaurs, or at least it feels like it. But seriously, when you've been a part of the football scene for as long as he has, it's hard to keep track. So, let's dive in, shall we?

Born in the Swinging Sixties

Alright, so Glenn Hoddle wasn't actually born in the '60s. I mean, I wish I could say he was, but that would make him older than my grandma. No, Glenn was born on the 27th of October, 1957, in a little town called Potters Bar, just outside London. That makes him a vintage '57, not a '60s model, but still, that's some serious mileage under his belt.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "But how does that make him old enough to have seen the Beatles play live?" Well, hold your horses, because Glenn was around to witness the Fab Four in their prime. In fact, he was even old enough to have a poster of them on his wall. But don't worry, he wasn't one of those kids who cried when they heard about the breakup. He was too busy becoming a football legend.

From Tottenham to the National Team

Glenn started his professional career with Tottenham Hotspur in 1975, at the ripe old age of 18. He spent a decade there, becoming a club legend and scoring some seriously impressive goals. And let's not forget his time with the England national team, where he represented the Three Lions 53 times and scored 9 goals. Not bad for a kid from Potters Bar, huh?

But Glenn wasn't just a player, oh no. He was also a manager, taking the reins at Swindon Town, Chelsea, and even the England national team. He might not have had the same success as some of the other managers out there, but hey, at least he tried. And that's what counts, right?

Still Going Strong

So, how old is Glenn Hoddle now? Well, as of writing this, he's 74 years young. And you know what? He's still going strong. He's a pundit now, sharing his wisdom on BT Sport, and let me tell you, he's got some great stories to tell. I mean, the man's seen it all, from the rise of the Premier League to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Okay, maybe not that last one, but you get the picture.

And you know what? Despite all those years, Glenn still looks like he could step onto the pitch and give the youngsters a run for their money. I mean, have you seen his hair? It's like it's frozen in time, stuck in the '80s glory days. I wish I could say the same for mine.

So, there you have it. Glenn Hoddle, the man, the myth, the legend. He's older than he looks, and that's saying something. But hey, age is just a number, right? And Glenn's number is a pretty impressive one. Here's to you, Glenn. Keep being awesome.
