How Old Is Dawn French

So, you're curious about Dawn French's age, huh? Well, grab a cuppa, get comfy, and let's dive in. No boring history lessons here, just a fun chat about one of Britain's best-loved comedians.

Let's set the scene

Imagine it's 1957, the year Dawn French was born. Elvis is shaking his hips, the first ever Frisbee is flying off the shelves, and in a small town in Wales, a baby girl named Dawn is making her grand entrance.

But hold on, you might be thinking, "I thought Dawn was from Cornwall!" Well, you're not wrong. Dawn's family moved to Cornwall when she was just a tot, so she's as Cornish as a pasty and a proper 'Oggy Oggy Oggy' (that's Cornish for 'Oi, oi, oi'!).

Growing up French

Dawn's childhood was filled with laughter, thanks to her dad, who was a bit of a joker. He even gave Dawn and her sister a pet lamb named 'Baa Baa'! Now that's a quirky family fact if ever I heard one.

Dawn's mum, on the other hand, was a bit of a disciplinarian. She'd make Dawn and her sister clean the house from top to bottom every Saturday. But Dawn didn't mind, she'd just sing show tunes at the top of her lungs while she dusted. Now that's how you make chores fun!

From Cornwall to comedy

After studying drama at university, Dawn joined the comedy group 'The Comic Strip' in the 80s. That's where she met her comedy soulmate, Jennifer Saunders. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Together, Dawn and Jennifer created the hilarious sitcom 'French and Saunders', which ran for a whopping 26 series. They spoofed everything from 'The Office' to 'Absolutely Fabulous', and even won a BAFTA for their troubles.

Dawn's solo adventures

But Dawn's not just a comedy queen, she's also a talented actress and writer. She's starred in loads of TV shows and films, like 'The Vicar of Dibley', 'Jam & Jerusalem', and even played a mermaid in 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'!

And get this, Dawn's even written a few books. Her autobiography, 'Dear Fatty', is a hilarious and heartwarming read. She's also written a couple of novels, proving she's not just a funny face, but a clever clogs too.

Age is just a number

So, you're probably dying to know, how old is Dawn French? Well, as of 2022, she's a sprightly 65 years young. But don't let that fool you, she's still as energetic and hilarious as ever.
