How Old Is Buzz Fletcher

So, there I was, scrolling through my social media feed the other day, when I stumbled upon a picture of Buzz Aldrin. You know, the guy who was second to step on the moon, right after Neil Armstrong. Now, I'm no expert on astronauts, but I could've sworn Buzz was looking a bit... younger than I remembered. I mean, did he find the fountain of youth up there or something?

Anyway, this little encounter got me thinking. How old is Buzz Fletcher, I mean, Buzz Aldrin, really? I mean, the guy's been around since the 60s, right? He's practically a living legend. So, let's dive into this, shall we?

Born in the Roaring Twenties

Alright, so let's start at the beginning. Buzz Aldrin, full name Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr., was born on January 20, 1930. That's right, folks, he's a Capricorn. And no, before you ask, he can't read your horoscope. He was born in Montclair, New Jersey, during the tail end of the Roaring Twenties. Can you imagine being born in the same decade as the Great Gatsby? I'm getting distracted, sorry.

Now, you might be thinking, "Wow, that makes him older than my grandparents!" Well, hold onto your hats, because it gets even more mind-blowing.

From Fighter Pilot to Astronaut

After serving as a fighter pilot in the Korean War, Buzz joined NASA in 1963. Yes, you read that right. He's been with NASA for almost as long as NASA has existed. He was part of the third group of astronauts selected by NASA, and he's been making history ever since.

But let's rewind a bit. In 1966, Buzz was part of the Gemini 12 mission. He spent over five hours outside the spacecraft, setting a new record for extravehicular activity. And he did all this while wearing a spacesuit that was basically a glorified wetsuit. I mean, have you tried swimming in a wetsuit? It's not exactly comfortable. But I digress.

The Moon Landing

Now, we all know what happened next. On July 20, 1969, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong became the first humans to walk on the moon. Buzz was the first person to use the lunar module's ascent engine, and he's the only person to have flown on both the Gemini and Apollo programs. That's like being the only person to have driven a Model T and a Tesla. Pretty impressive, huh?

And here's where things get a bit crazy. Buzz Aldrin is still alive. I know, I know, it's hard to believe. But it's true. He's 92 years old, and he's still making appearances, still talking about his experiences, still inspiring people. Isn't that something?

So, How Old Is Buzz Aldrin?

Well, as of 2022, Buzz Aldrin is 92 years old. That's right, folks. He's older than your grandparents, older than your great-aunts and uncles, older than your great-grandparents. He's practically a dinosaur. But you know what? He doesn't look a day over 70. I mean, have you seen his Twitter profile picture? The man looks like he's in his 50s, tops.

But seriously, folks, Buzz Aldrin's age is a testament to his resilience, his dedication, and his sheer badassery. He's seen things we can only dream of, done things we can only imagine. And he's still here, still talking, still inspiring. Isn't that something?

So, the next time you look up at the moon, remember that Buzz Aldrin was there. He walked on it, he explored it, he made history. And he's still around to tell the tale. Isn't that just the coolest thing you've ever heard?

Anyway, that's all I've got for you today. I hope you've enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. Until next time, folks. Keep exploring, keep dreaming, and remember: the sky is not the limit. It's just the beginning.
