How Old Is Billy Supposed To Be In Stranger Things

So, you're wondering, "How old is Billy supposed to be in Stranger Things?" Great question, friend! Let's dive into the Upside Down and find out, yeah?

Meet the Byers Boys

First things first, let's talk about the Byers brothers. Jonathan and Will are the main kids in the show, and they're supposed to be 12 and 11, respectively. Now, you might be thinking, "But they look older!" Well, that's the magic of TV, my friend. Actors often play younger or older than they are in real life.

But here's the thing, Billy wasn't always a main character. He was introduced in season 2, and he's the stepbrother of Max, who's around the same age as the other kids. So, we can use her as a reference point, right?

Enter Billy Hargrove

Now, let's talk about our favorite (or maybe not so favorite) muscle car enthusiast, Billy. He's played by Dacre Montgomery, who's actually Australian, but that's a story for another time. Dacre was born in 1994, making him around 27 or 28 in real life when season 3 was filmed.

But in the show, Billy's supposed to be around 17 or 18. Why the big age gap, you ask? Well, that's because the showrunners wanted him to be older than the main kids, but not too old. They wanted him to be a teenager, but with some life experience under his belt.

Why the Age Gap Matters

You might be wondering, "Why does it even matter how old Billy is?" Well, it's all about character dynamics, my friend. Billy's age gap with the main kids is supposed to make him seem more mature, more dangerous even. He's not just another kid; he's a teenager with a car, a job, and a whole lot of baggage.

Plus, it helps explain why he's so interested in Nancy and Jonathan. He's older, he's got hormones, and he's got a thing for older women. It's a classic trope, but it works, right?

So, How Old Is Billy?

Alright, let's wrap this up. In Stranger Things, Billy Hargrove is supposed to be around 17 or 18 years old. But remember, that's just in the show. In real life, Dacre Montgomery is a whole decade older than that. Isn't that wild?

Anyway, that's the scoop on Billy's age. Now, who's ready to binge-watch some Stranger Things and enjoy the awkwardness of Billy's character? I know I am!
