How Old Is Amber In Scream 5

Alright, gather 'round, folks. I've got a tale to tell, and it's not about how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop (the answer is three, by the way, according to a study by a bunch of scientists with way too much time on their hands). No, today we're diving into the mysterious, Stab-worthy world of Scream 5, and the age-old question: How old is Amber in this shindig?

Let's Set the Stage

Picture this: it's the year 2022, and the gang's all back together for another round of Ghostface-induced shenanigans. We've got Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, looking like they've aged about as well as a fine wine (or maybe a fine cheese, let's be real). And then there's Amber, the new kid on the block, ready to join the party.

So, Who's This Amber Character?

Amber is played by the lovely Jenna Ortega, who, if you've been living under a rock (or maybe just in a cabin in the woods, avoiding Ghostface), is the star of Netflix's Wednesday. She's a total badass, and she's got the kind of attitude that says, "I'm not afraid of you, Ghostface, you're just a guy in a mask with a knife. I've dealt with worse in my algebra class."

Now, About That Age Thing...

Here's where things get a little tricky. You see, Jenna Ortega was born on September 27, 2002. That makes her, as of this writing, a sprightly 20 years old. But here's the kicker: Scream 5 was released in January 2022, which means she was 19 when they were filming. So, in the world of Scream 5, Amber is a fresh-faced 19-year-old, ready to take on the world (and Ghostface) with her witty comebacks and impressive survival skills.

But wait, you might be thinking, "That can't be right! She looks way too young to be hanging out with Sidney and Gale!" Well, my friends, that's the magic of Hollywood. They've got all sorts of tricks up their sleeves to make us believe that these actors are still in high school (or, you know, not dead).

Why Does It Matter, Anyway?

You might be wondering why we're all in a tizzy about Amber's age. Well, aside from the fact that it's fun to play armchair detective and try to figure out these things, it actually does matter a bit in the context of the Scream franchise. You see, the films have always been a commentary on horror tropes, and one of those tropes is the "final girl" – the young, virginal woman who's the last one standing. Amber's age (and her status as a new, fresh face) fits right into that trope.

Plus, let's face it, it's always fun to play "Guess the Age" with our favorite celebrities. It's like a real-life game of "Guess Who," but with less facial hair and more Ghostface masks.

But Wait, There's More!

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, so Amber is 19 in the movie. But what about in real life? How old is Jenna Ortega?" Well, as I mentioned earlier, Jenna was born in 2002, which makes her 20 as of this writing. So, in real life, she's a year older than her character in Scream 5. Isn't that just the most meta thing you've ever heard?

And here's a fun fact for you: Jenna Ortega is actually the youngest person to ever play a "final girl" in the Scream franchise. Neve Campbell, who plays Sidney, was 22 when she starred in the original Scream. So, Jenna's not just making horror history, she's making Scream history!

So, There You Have It...

Amber, in Scream 5, is 19 years old. Jenna Ortega, in real life, is 20. And we've all learned a little something about the "final girl" trope and the history of the Scream franchise. Not bad for a little trip down the rabbit hole, huh?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some Tootsie Pops to lick. Until next time, folks!
